Pastor and Sister Ruth: Growing Together in Faith
Reverend John Goddard was born in Georgetown, Guyana. He first met Sister Ruth in 1981, when Ruth was at the Goddard residence to visit John’s sister. At the time, Ruth was in High School studying for the General Certificate Examinations, while John worked for Guyana Telecommunications. They met again in 1982, and it was at a crusade attended by Ruth and her best friend that John accepted the Lord into his life. In December 1983, John and Ruth were engaged.
Their life together since then has seen nothing but steady growth. John, under the mentorship of Pastor Green became a Youth Pastor, while Ruth taught Sunday School. Soon after, Ruth enrolled in the Guyana School of Agriculture. John connected with a family friend, Pastor Brooks, who would later become his Pastor. Under the tutelage of Pastor Brooks and others, John learned intercessory prayer, and shortly after the Love and Faith Church was born.
In 1988, John migrated to the US, and joined Zoe Ministries in New York, under the leadership of Bishop Jordan. He returned to Guyana and on January 6, 1990, John and Ruth were married. John returned to the U.S. to attend the School of the Prophet, and start a bible school under Zoe Ministries. Ruth remained in Guyana to care for their first daughter, Theodosia. John traveled around the world with Bishop Jordan as his deacon, conducting prophetic conferences, seminars, and training for prophets.
Ruth joined John in the U.S. a few days before Thanksgiving in 1992, and the following year, their daughter Deborah Theodora was born. In 1993, Ruth became a Deaconess at Zoe Ministries, and also enrolled in New York Technical College to pursue Nursing. During her studies, their third daughter, Thalia was born. After serving and working for Zoe Ministries for several years, the family moved to Maryland, where Ruth went to work for at Washington Hospital Center, as a Registered Nurse. After many years of praying, God blessed the Goddard family with a handsome baby boy Thaddeus John on Fathers Day, June 18th 2000.
Ruth continued school and obtained her Bachelors from University of Maryland in 2002. During this period, John was ordained as a minister. Shortly after, he was asked to Pastor New Generation Bible Church under the leadership of Bishop and Rev. (Mrs.) G. I. Elomobor.
The Goddard family was blessed further when John and Ruth adopted Daniel and Cassiah. The family has continued to pursue God, and to put Him first in every area of their lives. Pastor John received a honorary doctorate degree from Friends University. Ruth holds a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree in Advance Practice Nursing from George Mason University.
Today, Rev. (Dr.) John Goddard is the Pastor of Love, Faith & Hope Ministries International. He also is a master Plumber, and manages his own business TJ's Plumbing . Ruth is President of Favored Women of God (FWOG). The couple reside in Maryland.
